Penland School of Crafts is a national center for craft education located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

 

John C. Campbell Folk School. Nestled in Brasstown, NC, on 300 acres in a rolling valley, the Folk School offers visitors a chance to experience a special blend of history, art and natural beauty in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Haywood Community College in Waynesville, NC is an educational member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild through their Professional Crafts Program.

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, located in Gatlinburg, TN, offers art classes and craft classes for everyone from the novice to the professional.

 

The Blue Ridge Parkway, sometimes called "America's Favorite Drive", is the most visited unit of America's National Park System. A drive down the Parkway provides stunning, long range vistas and close-up looks at the natural and cultural history of the southern Appalachian mountains. It is designed as a drive-awhile and stop-awhile experience, so please don't be in a hurry.  The Blue Ridge Parkway is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2010.  To keep in touch with all the events surrounding the anniversary, visit brp75.org.

Tennesse Association of Craft Artists is a statewide, independent, non-profit organization founded in 1965 to encourage, develop and promote crafts and craftspeople in Tennessee.

 

The Village Potters  The Village Potters Gallery Studios and Teaching Center houses the studios of six Professional Potters, offers an exquisite Gallery and a fully equipped Ceramic Teaching program. The Village is located in The River Arts District of Asheville NC.  Judi Harwood, Catherine “Cat” Jarosz, Melanie Mitchell Robertson, and Sarah Wells Rolland are all long term members of The Southern Highland Guild. The Village Potters is committed to excellence in their craft, education, and offers the highest quality of fine craft in ceramics.

 

Silver River Center for Chair Caning, is an education center member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and the nation's only chair caning school and museum. Choose from day-long classes or shorter workshops in caning, rush, splint, and Shaker tape. Along with classes and exhibits, they offers restorations of your family's heirlooms and restored chairs for purchase. Located in CURVE Studios in the River Arts District, upstairs at 9 Riverside Dr. 

Mountain Metalsmiths School of Jewelry and Lapidary led by Southern Highland Craft Guild member Ruthie Cohen in Arden, NC near Asheville, provides a location to those who wish to develop jewelry and lapidary skills in a non-competitive, supportive environment.

 

Tryon Arts and Crafts School is an educational center member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.  Located in Tryon, NC, the mission of the school is to provide creative opportunities for everyone through education, instruction, and expression of heritage and contemporary arts and crafts in a friendly, stimulating and enriching environment.

North Georgia College & State University, Department of Visual Arts is an education center member of the Guild.

 

Country Workshops is an education center member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild that focuses on traditional craftsmanship with hand tools in woodworking. Started in 1978 by Drew Langsner, the school hosts workshops and classes that allow students to experience process and master the art of woodworking.

 

Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts is an education center member of the Guild. Located in the River Arts District of Asheville, the Center hosts workshops, classes and residencies in ceramics. With over forty artists, the community works to enhance one's capacity for creativity through focused instruction and collaboration.
