Chris Kamm lives and creates in Asheville, North Carolina. An avid cyclist and wordsmith, Chris is also a fine woodworker. He began his education in wood by working with inlay and marquetry techniques on small-scale objects. After that he moved on to small furniture, larger furniture, and eventually wound his way back to his roots of small-scale design work with beautiful inlaid wood. He has been happily making a living at box-making for nearly 20 years, and has been a member of our Guild since 2001.
This hinged box is from his Century Series of hinged boxes--so named for 4 individuals he has known who reached the 100 year mark: Cordier, Mackenzie, Serotta, and Campbell. This box is a Cordier, and is made from sapele, with a deep ziricote inlay on the top. The box has a gray suede liner.
At 10 x 5 x 3 inches, this box would make a wonderful keepsake or jewelry box, as well as an attractive spot to hide remote controls!
Artist statement and care information included.
