Approximately eighteen layers of veneered wood mimic the look of a feather in this wonderful, teardrop pendant by woodworker Buzz Coren of Burnsville, North Carolina.
Buzz carefully glues each thin piece of veneer to the next; when he has a block he slices it at an angle, exposing all the colors within.
From the side you can see the thin (roughly 1/16th of an inch) layers of wood which, when sliced at an angle, appear to be at least twice as thick!
This teardrop-shaped pendant is approximately 1 3/4 in. long, with a 19 in. silver-plated chain with easy-to-use hood-and-eye clasp.
Artist statement included.
