Michael Hatch is a glassblower, living and working in Weaverville, North Carolina. He is the proprietor of Crucible Glassworks, creating both functional and sculptural art by, as he puts it, "...shaping molten glass with breath, gravity, and simple tools...I rely on five thousand years of traditions, techniques, and forms to inspire my work."
Traditionally, face jugs are made by potters; Michael is turning that on its head by creating them out of blown glass. Although this vase is quite handsome on its own, either fresh cut or dried flowers would add a lot of personality, as well!
Approximately 8 /2" tall; transparent teal-green glass with a slightly bumpy texture on the outside.
Artist statement included.
