About this Gallery
Traditional Shaker Boxes are produced in various sizes. The woods used include walnut, cherry, curly maple, birdseye maple or quarter sawn sycamore. Shaker boxes are produced by bending thin strips of wood into an oval shape after soaking in hot water. Copper tacks are used to complete the sides. The lids and bottoms are custom fit to each box by hand sanding and are held in place using the traditional method of wooden pegs. The different sizes of Shaker oval boxes are designed to nest inside each other when not in use.
