Chestnut Ridge Quilting

Media: Fiber

Elkton, MD

Debbie Pierce is a self-taught quilter and quilting instructor who creates traditional quilts with her own "twist." She began quilting while living on her 25-acre farm on Chestnut Ridge near Jonesville, Virginia, with her husband and family. All six of their children have been involved in producing and marketing  quilts for Chestnut Ridge Quilting.  Debbie now resides in Newark, Delaware.

Debbie loves to share her unique insights into the joys of quilt making by teaching workshops in the Southern Appalachian and Delmarva regions. She has developed her own timesaving, accurate piecing techniques. Debbie credits her background as a math teacher for her ability to create new designs from traditional patterns. One of Debbie's latest patterns combines two traditional patterns, Courthouse Steps and Autumn Leaves. This quilt and its variations are featured in Debbie's book, Quilts of Chestnut Ridge:  Autumn at the Courthouse, by Schiffer Publishing.
