I have loved fiber in some form since I was a small child. Each visit to my grandmother's home, with a new and different lesson, cultivated my interest and developed my attraction to the tactile qualities of fiber.
Cynthia Hall, a native of Western North Carolina, works in her home studio, Ridgeview Studio. Her work encompasses many years of quilting and a recent interest in handweaving. Although her undergraduate work was in business, her love for fiber was not forgotten during her business career. After several years at home with her two daughters, she returned to study at Haywood Community College Professional Craft Program and graduated in 2004. "I was given my grandmother's stash of unfinished projects in 1994, which included a quilt. I wanted to finish it for her and signed up for a class. I've not finished that quilt, but began a journey with fiber. I cherish memories of my grandmother and the keepsakes she made. I hope each piece I make becomes a keepsake. Each piece of fabric is a step back in time. . . . "
