A quiltmaker since 1978, Jane has been making quilts and teaching for more than 30 years.  her style has evolved from traditional patterns to designing her own quilts and wallhangings that are sometimes a twist on a traditional theme.  Often  inspired by the colors in nature, she enjoys dyeing her own fabrics and is always influenced and awed by the beautiful textiles available to the modern fiber artist.

Jane received a BS. from Western Carolina University and has studied with many of the most talented quilt artists.  She has taught throughout New England, the southeast and in France, and the John C. Campbell Folk School.  From 1992 until 2010, she had a business in New England, Quilters Getaway Weekends, with her friend Gail Baker Rowe.  Since 2001, she and her friend Wendy Bowen have conducted a workshop, The Shady Ladies, in Haywood County, N.C. For the past 10 years, the group has had it's own quilt show each year showcasing more than 100 pieces of new work.

Jane's work has been shown and won ribbons in events in the U.S. and Europe.  Many of her pieces are in private  and public collections.  Her philosophy is that quilting should always be fun and that first and foremost, the art must please the artist.  She loves to see her students' creativity bloom in a comfortable and lively environment.

Jane is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.  Her work can be seen at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway.   She lives in Waynesville, North Carolina.
