I see possibilities in everything! I believe that one way or another, an artist's entire life goes into each piece she creates. Working primarily with fabric, I feel a tie, a thread, that connects me to women of the past , and I hope to be a part of the thread that will connect to future generations.

Always having a penchant for fabric, I have designed and taught arts and crafts for more than 25 years, designing projects freelance for publications including McCall's, Better Homes & Gardens, Rodale Press, Oxmoor House, and Lark Books. My teaching experience includes national doll seminars, quilt symposiums, and classes for guilds. I am the Resident Artist for Dolls and Surface Design at John C. Campbell Folk School and have taught week long doll classes there since 1988. When asked how long I have made dolls or worked with needle and thread, I find the question difficult to answer--was there ever a time when I didn't sew? The beginnings were surely in childhood play with paper and fabric and glorious colors. I have sewn as long as I can remember. As an artist, I feel that every bit of that play and experience continues in what I love to do today. My desire is that my pieces will uplift--will bring joy to the viewer and thereby diminish some of the effects of this technological and stressful age. Attention to color, detail, and a sense of movement and whimsical elegance are important, contributing to my desire to elicit a positive response in a too-often negative world. I consider it a privilege that my 'work' is dancing with cloth and playing with rainbows of color.
