Media: MetalA Self taught artist, Katrina has been sculpting copper turtles, fish, birds and various other creatures for twelve years. As a full-time artist and part-time librarian, Katrina draws from both worlds to create fun, whimsical and humorous animals.
A variety of methods are used to forge and fabricate each piece. The original designs are individually hand formed with hammer, anvil and heat. The exteriors are hand-painted and patinated to enhance the natural color of the heated copper. Katrina's ideas come from the love of nature, twist of humor, and people watching. In each and every piece she strives to keep her designs fresh and spontaneous, while maintaining quality workmanship. Her work can be seen at Guild shops and other selected galleries in the South
