Sneaky series

About this Gallery: Sneaky Series Artist Statement July 6 2005 The Sneaky Series has evolved from my ongoing study of objects and their relationships with the surfaces that support them. I started the Sneaky series in 1986 as a direct result of going through the jury process for membership in the Southern Highland Craft Guild. I was told that the bases of my vessel forms did not relate well to the surfaces that they rested on. I shifted my focus from the rims to the bottom of my vessels and in time legs appeared and the Sneaky series was born. I applied to the Guild with my new Sneaky Series and became a member in 1987. I feel the legs give the piece gesture, animation and life. I want the bowl to sneak across the surface that it rests on. Rodger Jacobs
