About this Gallery:
This series of scrolls was made with the Spirit Women images in my head. I look at them as protective scrolls the Spirit Women might wear, as well as textile art wall hangings. In Ethiopia in the early nineteenth century, millions of people hired artists to make them "Magic Scrolls" which they could wear for protection and for curing disease. Each "Magic Scroll" was made for a specific individual who would wear it through out a life time and would eventually be buried in it.
