Making Jewelry Magic with the Orion Pulse Arc Welders
|Special Events >>|
The Southern Highland Craft Guild will be hosting the second National Orion Pulse Arc Workshop at the Folk Art Center in Asheville, NC on Sept. 6 – 7, 2014. The workshop is sponsored by the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) and is open to all jewelers, including those who already own an Orion welder or for those considering making a purchase of one.
The workshop will be an engaging and enjoyable way to learn more about Orion welders and how to use them. Attendees will spend their time checking out different models and putting them to the test. They will learn more about welding bezels, resizing rings, welding dissimilar metals together, repairing porosities, welding titanium, and how to re-tip prongs or construct jewelry without soldering.
This workshop will not only include captivating demonstrations, but will also feature one-on-one assistance from Brett White from Orion Jewelry Welders, and David Alberts and Ruthie Cohen of the Mountain Metalsmiths School of Jewelry & Lapidary. Brett, David, and Ruthie will be delighted to assist individuals while they work with a pulse arc welder. They will also happily answer questions, show attendees their options for welders, and help attendees decide what welder models would work well with their work space and budget. Jewelers who attend are encouraged to bring along projects they have been working on.
The workshop will be held in the Folk Art Center auditorium Saturday, September 6th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday, September 7th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This informative workshop will cost $300.00 to attend and a boxed lunch will be provided for only a $5.00 fee per day. Workshop fees will be donated to SNAG and the Southern Highland Craft Guild to support educational programs. A $50.00 deposit is required to hold your space. For more information, please contact Ruthie Cohen by phone: 828-687-7830 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
