Asheville, NC --
It's Time for Tellabration! when thousands of people around the world gather in small towns and big cities to celebrate storytelling during the last week-end before Thanksgiving. The international celebration of storytelling, known as Tellabration! serves to build grassroots community support for the age-old art of storytelling. Since its inception in 1988, the annual observance has grown into one of the most impressive collective events in the history of the modern storytelling revival.
Citizens from Asheville and surrounding areas join the global Tellabration! Spirit for the seventeenth year, as Asheville Storytelling Circle hosts the local event Sunday, November 23, 2014, 3:00 PM at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The outstanding and diverse line-up once again showcases accomplished storytellers, headlined by Tennessee's own nationally known storyteller and author MINTON SPARKS. Fusing music, poetry, and her intoxicating gift for storytelling, this National Storytelling Festival veteran paints word pictures of the rural South that put you square in the middle of the people and the places she knows like the back of her hand. The line-up also includes outstanding Asheville Storytelling Circle tellers Pete Koschnick, Zane Chait, Daphne Darcy, and MC Karen-eve Bayne
General Admission: $10; proceeds help enable future storytelling events and activities in the WNC area. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, and are available at the door on the day of the event.
Information: 828-667-4227 or 828-274-1123.
Tellabration! is sponsored in partnership with the Southern Highlands Craft Guild and the National Storytelling Network.
