River Stone Necklace - green

Rebecca Kempson Doll Maker

My mother put a needle in my hand when I was three years old and the love of creating from fabric has never left me. Over the years fiber in all forms has been a part of my life.

My college studies centered around fabric and clothing design. When my husband and I settled in these beautiful mountains, I was inspired by the artisans in this area to learn to dye wool, spin, and knit and felt.
My dolls are made one at a time so that their personalities are reflected in the way they move and the clothes they wear.

My husband and I love to travel. I always think that I travel lightly, but my luggage on the return trip home is crammed with bits and pieces of antique or unusual fabrics suitable for cloth figures.
Both of the dolls I've entered in the Hoffman fabric challenge have been selected to travel around the United States as part of the Hoffman exhibit. Other dolls have been published in Art Doll Quarterly and Somerset studio.
