Riverwood Pewter

As a third generation craftsperson, I feel privileged to keep alive the traditional craft of hand hammering pewter.

My father and grandfather began making pewter items in 1930 at the Penland School of Crafts. In our present studio we make plates, bowls, and trays, many of them with the traditional dogwood design sawed into the rims.

I grew watching the workers make the pewterpieces, and occasionally I tried my had at it., In l988, after college, babies, and teaching home economics, I finally joined the business, working with my parents as well as other workers. Later, the business became mine and I find a great deal of satisfaction in creating items that are both beautiful and useful.

After 50 years in Dillsboro, NC our work is being produced at a studio on Riverwood Hill in Webster, NC.

Our business was featured recently on an HGTV segment of "Country Living"

Riverwood Pewter has been a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild since the l930's.

To procure Riverwood Pewter items, one may call, write, or Email our shop. But to fully appreciate the beautiful patine of the pewter, one should see the items in person at one of the Guild shops.
