In its 70th year, the Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands returns to downtown Asheville’s U.S. Cellular Center. Filling both the concourse and arena levels of the venue, makers exhibit a variety of craft ranging from contemporary to traditional in works of clay, wood, metal, glass, fiber, natural materials, paper, leather, mixed media, and jewelry.

Cultivating Craft in Your Daily Life | Design Vignettes

New this year, the Guild has partnered with several associated sponsors – local interior designers, architects and builders from Western North Carolina to showcase how handcrafted can be incorporated into your daily life. With the purpose to combine talents of makers in the Guild and spacial creatives, the industry of craft is quintessential in transforming a house into a home. Below are the three vignettes for July.

Bring your Inner Creative to Life | July Demonstrators

The Southern Highland Craft Guild is a recipient of the Buncombe County Festival and Cultural Event Support Fund that is funded by the Asheville/Buncombe County Tourist Development Authority. It is specifically being used to elevate the Summer Edition of the Craft Fair with increased craft demonstrations at the Fairs, as well as live mannequins. Check back for more on this soon!

Planning Your Visit | Where to Stay, Eat after you Play

Asheville is full of eclectic and charming abodes for your stay, here are a few that are close to the Fairs downtown: Aloft, Renaissance, Hotel Indigo, Windsor, Four Points, Haywood Park, Hilton.

We currently have room blocks available downtown at the Hyatt Place as well as at the Hampton Inn and Suites and the Hilton DoubleTree in Biltmore Village under the name: The Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands. Rooms being held through June 21, 2017.

Known for being a “Foodtopia”, there is a robust menu of local eateries all within walking distance of the U.S. Cellular Center. Click here for a quick guide for the Downtown joints, but be sure to check out other parts of the city too!

If you’re searching for a place to put your feet up and sip on a cold craft brew, head down to the South Slope and grab a pint from any of these folks. Walking Time is ~ 10 minutes, Half Mile.
