Quick Overview

An Appalachian woman churning butter--a corn-shuck creation by Anne Freels of Clinton, TN.

Product Description

Handcrafted corn-shuck figure by Anne Freels of Clinton, Tennessee.

Anne's southern Appalachian heritage inspires so many of her creations, whether it's in the materials she uses, or in the message behind each piece.

She writes of her Heritage Women series: "Tending to daily tasks brings joy to this traditional mountain woman. She represents the resourcefulness of a self-sustaining lifestyle that was often found in the Appalachian mountains."

Dressed in red, with an apron and bonnet of natural-colored corn shucks, this Heritage Woman stands at her butter churner--filled with cream from her own cow!

Approximately 8 3/4 inches tall.

Artist statement included.
