Heart-shaped, raku-fired, porcelain box by Lynn Jenkins of Valle Crucis, North Carolina. Approximately 2" in diameter.
Lynn started potting as a teenager in 1976, and clay has been a part of her life ever since. Horsehair raku items are fired in a gas kiln to approximately 1900 degrees F. At this point they are taken from the kiln and horsehair (acquired by brushing a horse's tail or mane) is applied, by hand, to each piece. The burning of the horsehair leaves a black carbon on the surface of the clay making each piece a complete one-of-a-kind!
Lynn hopes you enjoy the energy she passes to you with her pottery!
