Erin Keane is a full-time artist and art instructor living and working in Candler, North Carolina.
Her predominant medium is encaustic, or painting with hot wax, and of her books she says, "The artist in me craves to explore new techniques, structures, and ideas. This curiosity...led me to combine my two obsessions, encaustic and journals...the resulting books are individual works of art and conversation pieces, yet they are completely functional as blank journals."
The front and back covers on each journal are as unique as the person who will use it; photography, collage, found objects, dried plants, etc. can be found embedded in the wax. Hand-torn paper folios are held together with distinctive stitching on the spine.
This tiny journal measures just over 3 in. high by 2½ in. wide; 192 pages.
