Jeff has the pleasure of being married to a quilter, who inspires a lot of his work; he uses a marquetry, or inlay technique to add quilt squares to the tops of traditional Shaker boxes, making each one even more unique and special!
This box is made from Cherry and Birdseye Maple, with various other woods in the Robert's Choice quilt square. The box is made using the old Shaker methods: hot water soaking for bending the wood; copper tacks in the "fingers" keep the oval shape; and wooden pegs secure the bottom and the lid. Shaker Boxes come in particular sizes, and this one is a Size 3: 7 1/4 in. wide, 5 in. deep, and approximately 2 3/4 in. high.
