Gary Bills sees beauty in a tree's "imperfections"--burls, knots, rough edges, spalting--and uses his skills as a woodworker to enhance these beauty marks. Some of the figuring in this Maple bowl came from Ambrosia Beetles which bored holes through the tree when it was still standing. The beetles are long gone, but they've left some interesting trails in the wood!
This piece is intended for decorative purposes only; it is not water-tight. Can be used for fresh fruit, nuts, or as a bread basket, but avoid soggy ingredients!
