Jean McGrew has been interested in textiles since her grandmother taught her to embroider when she was a little girl. Her talents in weaving include wall hangings, liturgical textiles, and these boxes!
The structure of the box comes from strips of bamboo dowels Jean weaves in among the yarn.
This little lidded box is made of rust colored yarn, Japanese paper, and bamboo. The lid does not clasp shut, but some small wooden beads function as a "handle" to open the box (and store some small treasures!)
Approximately 6½ in. square and 2 in. high.
Artist statement included.
