Product Description

This horsehair raku decorative vase was made by Lynn Jenkins of Seneca, SC. Lynn started potting as a teenager in 1976, and clay has been a part of her life ever since. Horsehair raku pots are fired in a gas kiln to approximately 1900 degrees F. At this point they are taken from the kiln and the horsehair is applied, by hand, to each pot. The burning of the horsehair leaves a black carbon on the surface of the clay making each pot a complete one-of-a-kind! These pots have no glaze on them, and are intended for decorative purposes only (one might insert a glass insert for use as a fresh-flower vase). Lynn hopes you enjoy the energy she passes to you with her pottery! 6 3/4 in. high, 4 in. at widest diameter. Artist statement and explanation of horsehair raku included.
