Jean McGrew has been interested in textiles since her grandmother taught her to embroider when she was a little girl. Her talents in weaving include wall hangings, spirit guides, boxes, and these striking table runners!
Jean weaves the runner using two colors of pearl cotton (in this case Wedgwood blue and a pale, sage green), and includes hand-painted bamboo "dowels" into the weft; the bamboo adds both structure and neat design elements to the runner! Jean then finishes each runner with braided "fringe" at both ends.
Approximately 72 in. long by 8 3/4 in. wide (cotton warp is 6 in; the bamboo adds another 2 3/4 inches).
Artist statement included.
