Peter Chapman of Bent Mountain, Virginia has created a fantastic menagerie out of wood.
His puzzles are movable sculptures; with his saw he has cut the wood in such a way that when you handle the puzzle it becomes animated. Each puzzle has a surprise inside of it and you have to take it apart to find it!
The "key" for the Little Brown Bat is it's eye; remove this small dowel and then take the puzzle apart one piece at a time.
Each puzzle is signed and comes with an artist statement.
Wood is walnut.
Bat's wingspan is 13 in., and the body is 5 in. long; the feet curve in such a way to allow the bat to hang (as it does from the dowel in the photo)
