Product Description

Our 2012 Ornament of the Year: "Renewal" by Buzz Coren.

Based on the Pinwheel Quilt pattern, this segmented & layered wood ornament features reclaimed Carolina Hemlock, which is in decline in the Smoky Mountains. Pinwheels are a symbol of turning one’s luck around; an instrument to turn obstacles into opportunities.

Burnsville, NC artist Buzz Coren is known for his unique multi-layered wood vessels and has been a member of Southern Highland Craft Guild since 1994

The 2012 Ornament of the Year features a pinwheel quilt pattern composed of Ebon-X (walnut, enhanced to resemble ebony), poplar, anigre, mahogany and 130 year old reclaimed Carolina hemlock.   Wood grain and color will vary with each ornament.  The hemlock features the greatest variation due to age and arrested fungal action.

2 1/2 inches square by approx. 1/8 inch thick;  Each ornament comes boxed, with an artist statement included.
