Jim McPhail turns miniature wooden bowls (and vessels) which delight youngsters and mature persons alike!
His palette includes over 200 woods from all around the world, and each bowl has at least 10 different layers of wood--most have many more than that. By working in such a small scale, Jim can show off the beauty of certain woods which might be lost on a larger piece.
This particular piece was turned in two parts, assembled, and re-turned for finishing. The primary wood used is Amboyna Burl, with alternate layers of Bloodwood and White Oak. It is 1½ inches in diameter, and 1¼ inches high.
Each bowl is signed and numbered.
Artist statement and care card included.
