I have always loved fiber. I looked forward to visiting with my grandmother and learning something new each trip. When she passed away I received an unfinished quilt and decided to learn to quilt properly and finish this project. Fifteen years later I still have the quilt in a closet, not finished, but have explored many things. I have studied many techniques in quilting, taught many classes along the way and even finished a few quilts.
Along the way I segued into the most basic form of fiber manipulation – weaving. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in the Professional Craft program at Haywood Community College. I was fascinated by the mechanics of weaving and was intrigued by the progressive complexity of it. So many things I could learn….
I found my way back to quilting and my love of the process. I love to try new techniques, but seem to come back to the traditional. I may give it a little twist, but I enjoy the connection I feel when I make something that makes someone remember a special person in their past and how this special person touched their life. So many people have a special memory of being wrapped in, sleeping under or playing while a quilt was being made.
