Dana Hatheway is a custom woodworker who lives and works from his home studio. He began his woodworking career at Penland School of Crafts in 1974 under the instruction of Sam Maloof's son, Slimen Maloof

Warne
NC

Dana began the Windsor chair classes at the Campbell Folk School while he was the school's resident woodworker. A member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild since 1984. Dana has his own line of traditional and contemporary Windsor chairs and creates custom furniture for clients. He describes his work this way, "Most of my designs have been influenced by the smooth, graceful lines of the Maloof style and the simplicity of Shaker furniture. Made mostly of native American hardwoods such as walnut, cherry and oak, the furniture has a hand rubbed oil finished enhancing the natural color and grain of the wood. The joinery carries a lifetime guarantee to outlast the life of the original owner or myself."
