This quote, from Design House Stockholm, resonates with me:

"Don't make something unless it is both necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful, don't hesitate to make it beautiful."

Asheville

Irene lives, works, and plays in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. She's been joyfully creating with polymer clay since 1992.

Her long-ago background working for small manufacturing companies (children's clothing, consumer electronics) provided her with the business skills necessary to make a living creating and selling her work, which she's been doing full-time since 1997. Irene has authored three books on polymer clay and has had her work featured in numerous other books and magazines.

Irene's been a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild since 2001. Although she no longer participates in retail craft shows, you can find her enthusiastically demonstrating her craft in the lobby of the Folk Art Center several times each year. Her work is available for purchase at each of the Guild shops, as well as through select shops and galleries across the United States.

Irene is passionate about literacy and volunteers with the Literacy Council of Buncombe County.
