Joan B. Flint Textiles creates handwovens for the home interior. Each one-of-a-kind textile is designed and carefully crafted by the artist with a discerning eye for design, weaving technique, and finishing. Inspiration comes from many sources, but the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains has influenced several of the design styles. Original designs, durable materials, and traditional techniques combine with the beauty of color, texture, and pattern to create unique textiles.
Joan's home and weaving studio is in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of northeast Tennessee. A graduate of Memphis College of Art (BFA Painting) and East Tennessee State University (MFA Weaving/Fibers), she has also studied tapestry weaving and ikat at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Joan has taught design, weaving, papermaking, and vegetable dyeing. Her handwoven work has been featured in galleries and shops since 1981, and her work has won several awards. A juried member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild since 1989.
