It is enjoyable and satisfying making wearable art that women find not only enticing but soft, light weight and conforming gracefully to their bodies. I like the bead weavings to be as textured as our garden, the leaves and flowers varied and vibrant, creating graceful gradations of colors playing next to each other.

Years spent in advertising, working as a technical rep in commercial lithography, taught me not only how to see and appreciate minute gradations of color while working on a printing press but how to build a successful business. Retiring from that hectic big city career, not knowing what was next, I was introduced to two Native American women who offered me an opportunity to study with them. It changed my life. While teaching me about their culture and spirituality, their hands were always busy. Winters in Montana were ripe for hours of beadwork. I caught the beading bug, continuing to study with them in summers and thirty years later -these older, now gnarled knuckles and fingers still can"t stay away from those beads. These women inspired me to always think about bringing beauty into the world in every way possible. In the old ways every bead was a prayer. No being grumpy when beading - who would want to wear that around their neck!
