For 95 years, the Guild has curated over 800 artisans, juried in based on their fine craftsmanship of twelve different mediums. These makers reside in the mountain regions of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, & West Virginia.

A Must-Visit for Anyone Who Loves Handmade Beauty! If you're anywhere near Asheville, do yourself a favor and stop by the Southern Highland Craft Guild! This place is an absolute treasure trove for anyone who appreciates real, handmade craftsmanship. From stunning pottery and woven textiles to handcrafted jewelry and woodwork, every piece tells a story of Appalachian artistry that's been passed down for generations. The Folk Art Center itself is gorgeous — big windows overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the whole space just feels warm and welcoming. You can tell the artisans pour real heart into their work, and it shows in the quality of everything on display. I left with a few pieces I absolutely adore (and honestly, a list of things I'm going back for). If you love supporting local artists, want a unique souvenir that's actually meaningful, or just enjoy beautiful things made with skill and love this is the spot. Highly, highly recommend making time for it on your next Asheville trip!

This was an excellent stop while visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway. We enjoyed browsing the galleries and gift shop. I went home with the most beautiful flute! It’s definitely worth the stop but be prepared to pull out your your wallet because you’ll want to buy everything!!
