Description

Working Collaboratively has been a primary inspiration for my garment work for 25 years, ranking right up there with Color and Tactility.  Laura Sims was present at JCC Folk School when I learned to make Nuno felt, using a number of her dyed/printed organza scraps and pieces of her silk are in every piece of felt I make.  Karen Swing taught me her ‘Inspired by Boro’ stitching at the Folk School years later, and I’m honored that she enjoys stitching on my work.  Others’ choices of color and yarn and fabric and design spark my own intuitive design.  Creating a total piece that is greater than the sum of its various pieces/parts that is lacking only the final piece; the wearer… THIS, this is why I make stuff with my hands and heart. – Liz Spear

I am a weaver of cloth, and maker of garments. My fabrics are a blend of cotton and rayon yarns in a variety of textures and sizes, beginning with the selection of a dozen different shades of a single color.
