Susan B. Taylor

I was first taught basketry by my mother, Mae Taylor. Her forte was ribbed and Nantucket-style baskets. With her help, I learned to make egg baskets, then other kinds of ribbed baskets. From there, I branched into splint basketry and wicker. Today, I weave a variety of basket styles - in many sizes, shapes and colors!

A Cat’s Head Basket gets it name from the corners of the base.  When turned upside-down, it looks like the head of a cat with pointy ears.  Susan’s baskets are known for their quality, attention to detail, and visual excitement. A ‘natural’ in 3-dimensional arts, Susan also enjoys pottery, gourd projects, jewelry making, bead work, woodturning, and felting wool.
