The Southern Highland Craft Guild is committed to the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, partners, artists, and community. While our brick & mortar stores are closed, our online shop is still in operation. We will continue to evaluate a potential re-opening date as we closely monitor the status of COVID-19. Group events and craft demonstrations scheduled through May have been cancelled. Check our website or Facebook page for the latest information.

Horse Hair Vessel

Lynn Jenkins

Wheel thrown ceramic vessel fired with horse hair.  This white clay has been fired in a gas kiln and the horsehair is then applied to the pot.  The burning of the horsehair leaves a black carbon on the surface of the clay.  These pots have no glaze on them, and are intended for decorative purposes.

  • Assorted sizes
  • Made in NC

Lynn Jenkins studied with two great granddaughters of the late Maria Martinez.  Maria was famous for her black pottery.  Lynn is currently creating her own style of black pottery as well as horse hair pottery and traditional raku.  Lynn continues to enjoy her life journey with clay and hopes you enjoy the energy she passes to you with her pottery.
