“Out of South Africa” – Quilt

Diana Ramsay

$2,000.00

“The Batik focus fabric (center of blocks) was a gift from a friend who visited South Africa where it was given to her. As she passed it on to me, she said, “Maybe you can do something with this.” This is what I did.
The colors in it were the springboard to choosing the rest of the fabrics. There are a variety of types of cotton fabrics: solids. batiks, hand dyes. Strips were free-hand cut. When I finished cutting out the center squares from the focus fabric, there were NONE left! Whew!! I especially enjoyed selecting ‘frame’ fabrics intuitively.”
This quilt received the Best Use of Color award in the Asheville Quilt Show.
