“Jewel S. Tumas, handweaver, has been weaving for more than 30 years and is descended from Scottish ancestors who worked in traditional fiber arts.  Her weaving is in the tradition of the Southern Highlands, where she lives.

Jewel uses historical weaving drafts and natural fibers of linen, cotton and wool in the handwoven products she makes.  She particularly loves weaving Colonial overshot coverlets in wool and cotton or linen.  Finish work includes detailed hemstitching and twisted or braided fringe.”
