My current focus is creating flame-work glass beads using Recycled Antique Mason Jar Glass. The challenge is how to develop interesting beads and finished jewelry designs from a singular color. Adding other glass elements could create instability within the glass when it cools, so there are defined limits. Experimentation with glass density, shape, surface finish and texture, elicit a variety of responses. When the finished pieces are worn, they create a human connection to the energy of the jar history and the personal story of the recipient or gift-giver. There is no greater reward for my work than personal connection.

Description

Solid mason jar glass beads, graduating in size, set between sterling silver findings.  Glass artist Bonnie Scott has developed a process for transforming antique mason jar glass into beads.  She melts the glass at 3000 degrees, then individually creates new shapes from the molten glass.
