Granulation is an ancient fusing process utilized for thousands of years by the Etruscans and Mycenaeans as well as other cultures around the globe. Susan creates her tiny granules with fine silver and sort them by size. the she places the granules with a 000 paint brush and then carefully heats the piece using a mouth torch to the point of fusing. Each sphere is connected by a tangent of of metal creating a sleek and beautiful surface.

This one-of-a-kind pendant is bezel-set sky blue tourmaline cabochon gem in a 22k gold setting and granules. These 22k granules are fused to fine silver in an intricate pattern of granules peppering the surface. Hung on an oxidized, 20″ sterling silver curb chain.
