Medium Wheel Thrown Ceramic Bucket

Sue Grier

This handmade ceramic bucket could be used in a myriad of ways: a utensil jar, serving chips or pretzels, holding napkins and silverware–and most of all it’s a nifty bit of unique whimsy.  These beautifully crafted buckets are thrown on the potter’s wheel, then altered.

  • 7.25″tall x 6.5″wide (to the rim, not the handle loop)
  • Copper handle is decorative and not load-bearing
  • Pottery is food-safe
  • Due to the copper, not microwave or dishwasher-safe
  • Made in NC

Working with clay is very ‘process oriented’ – this is the attraction. I work primarily from wheel-thrown components. I am only half teasing when I say that the clay keeps a person ‘centered’. Beyond the throwing – mesmerizing & meditative as that can be – there is the quality of mark making and creation of form. Working with clay for over 30 years, I have a decided interest in the quest for problem solving when making more complex forms or pieces. What fun to test one’s skills against this ornery & willful material.

Purchased one last year in red for me and love it. Have used for small plants on my kitchen counter and it gets so many compliments. Also used for rolled napkins for an informal dinner. Purchased this one as a gift.
