Description

These men’s bow ties are made using hand marbled fabric using the 17th Century technique of floating paint on a thickened water surface. The paint is manipulated with a wide spaced tooth comb. The bow ties are called self tie meaning that each man has to learn/know how to tie it. It is not stitched to keep the same knot. In fact, some of the ties have different fabric on the back which gives variety in the appearance by reversing the bow or the middle knot part.  Slide the fabric through the buckle to lengthen the tie.

My marbling patterns span from the traditional gelgit to more exploratory patterns on silk fabric like scarves, frameable paper pieces, neckties and bowties. I am available for custom work.
