Andrea Wilson is a painter and print-maker living and creating in the mountains of east Tennessee. Andrea’s love of the details of the natural world is captured beautifully in her etchings.
In her artist statement she says, “Whether it’s the subtle colors and individual parts of flowers or the colorful, bug-eaten decay of fall leaves–I want to capture all of it. By embracing the details and frequently the imperfections of nature, my work offers a unique creative perspective.”
This copperplate etching depicts Rudbeckia, commonly known as Black-Eyed Susans. Andrea has hand-colored the bright yellow blossoms and left the stems and leaves unpainted. In this way, the flowers AND the etching process are both shown off. Andrea prints limited editions, and each print is signed and numbered.
