Description

Needle Felting is a dry felting process using barbed needles. I use a wool pre-felt as my canvas which is ordered in large sheets and cut to desired size for the scene. I lightly sketch the scene onto the pre-felt before needle felting. After needle felting is completed I wet felt the piece using warm soapy water and agitation to completely mesh all the wool fibers tightly into a solid piece of felt. Sometimes free motion stitching is applied to accentuate texture.

The beauty of the North Carolina Mountains is unparalleled. Working with wool fiber roving and other natural fibers I try to create 2D works of art that depict the beauty I see.
