Billie Ruth Sudduth

Basketry is actually my second career. I spent almost twenty years as a school psychologist. It is appropriate that my baskets become mathematically based, having spent my earlier career with testing, measurements, statistics, and math.

From the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, a beautiful pantry basket to hang on the wall or sit on the counter. It also looks pretty good empty as well. The split oak handle is woven into the basket.  The dark and light blue weavers contrast with the natural weavers for visual interest. While many of Billie Ruth Sudduth’s baskets are in major museum collections, this basket would be a great addition to any home.  In 1997 she was named a North Carolina Living Treasure, the states highest honor in the field of crafts.
