George Rector’s stoneware and porcelain wood fired functional pots are influenced by the medieval folk pottery of China, Korea, Japan and northern Europe.
Rector produced his work at Caledonia Pottery wherein 1983 he built a single-chamber catenary arch wood kiln that he adapted to soda firing in 1996.
Among others, Rector studied with Jeff Oestreich and Will Ruggles and Douglass Rankin at Penland School of Craft and Warren MacKenzie.
