I start with organic white fabric, dye it in small batches, then print each piece using silk screens from my own drawings. Once the fabric is heat set, I cut it and sew it into garments made form original patterns.

I grew up in Louisville, Ky, in a family of teachers who loved art. We hosted a traveling puppeteer from Berea College when I was 9, and she taught me how to sew. I continued all through high school, making most of my own clothes and experimenting with art quilts. While attending Warren Wilson College, I traveled extensively throughout India and Southern Appalachia, earning a degree in Global Issues. After college, I moved to New Mexico to live with the puppeteer and her husband, who now worked full time as potters. They taught me so much about living a life as an artist. I returned back to North Carolina to study at Penland School of Crafts and to start a business making quilts and clothes. I still live in Asheville with my husband and two daughters where I have a home studio and one amazing sewing assistant.
